There's a Spring in My Step

Creatively titled by Anna, this entry chronicles our visit to nearby springs in July.  Look how pretty!  Don't you just wish you were there right now?

We were driving the mountain road and saw this elk herd and followed it until they went deeper into the forest.  It was pretty cool to hear them...bugle?  What sounds do elk make?  Anyway, it was a family first.  Not the greatest photo, taken in haste with the iphone, but it's a great memory.

Nathan and Anna assumed the lead on this family jaunt.  It's a rare thing to actually walk along side these trailblazers.  Their young, energetic legs have little use for a leisurley stroll.

Nathan found out stinging nettle is not so fun.  Rinsing hands in the water helped a little, but a leaf of Lamb's Ear is what really did the trick.

It wasn't the rushing water that made this bridge an adventure but the huge creepy spider that had spun a web from one of the posts, out over the water to a plant down below.  A little icky, but fascinating! :)

Matt with Chewie, our loyal canine who wants only to be sitting at--or on--our feet.

Nate the Great ~  onward and upward!

Matt gave us a nice family home evening message about the importance of the Holy Ghost as we feasted on donuts.  Yummy treats, good thoughts, beautiful surroundings...magic.

For this picture I was trying to come up with something witty about our aging selves, but Anna said we should call it, "Love Stands Still."  Bless her poetic soul!
